SCIENCE WITH A SPARK — PARTICIPANT WAIVER

Welcome to Science with a Spark! Classes are held in a home-based setting, which means you’ll be in a real, lived-in space. We want you to feel comfortable, informed, and excited before your first session — so please take a moment to read through this waiver before registering. You’ll confirm your agreement when you complete the registration form.

PETS ON PREMISES
We share our home with cats, who roam freely throughout the space, and a dog, who is secured but may make his opinions known from a nearby room. We love them dearly, but we want to make sure you and your student do too — or at least aren’t allergic to them! By registering, you confirm that neither you nor your student has any allergies, fears, or medical conditions that would be affected by the presence of animals, and you agree that Science with a Spark is not responsible for any reaction, injury, or incident related to our pets.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Our classes involve hands-on science activities using common household and commercially available materials that are generally recognized as safe for educational use. We take safety seriously and do everything we can to create a safe, fun learning environment — but individual reactions to materials can’t always be predicted. If an emergency arises, we will assess the situation, contact your designated emergency contact, and call 911 if needed. By registering, you and your student accept the inherent risks of participating in hands-on science activities in a home setting, and you agree that Science with a Spark is not responsible for any injury, illness, or loss that occurs during class.

MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION
In the event of a medical emergency, you authorize Science with a Spark to seek emergency assistance on behalf of your student if a parent or guardian cannot be immediately reached.

BEHAVIOR & CLASS CONDUCT
We want every student to have an amazing experience, and that means treating the space, materials, and each other with care and respect. Students are expected to follow all lab safety instructions and handle equipment responsibly. Science with a Spark reserves the right to dismiss any student whose behavior is disruptive, unsafe, or damaging to the learning environment. In the event of dismissal, no refund will be issued for remaining sessions.

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
Students may arrive no more than 10 minutes before their scheduled session and must be picked up within 10 minutes of the session ending. We love your kids, but we can’t be responsible for them outside of class time, so please plan accordingly! Science with a Spark is not responsible for students outside of this window, and students may not be left unattended on the premises.

PHOTO RELEASE
We love sharing the excitement of science with our community! You grant Science with a Spark permission to photograph or record your student during class for educational and promotional use, including social media. If you’d prefer your student not be photographed, just let us know in your registration form and we will absolutely respect that.

AGREEMENT
By checking the box on the registration form, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the enrolling student, that you have read and understood this waiver, and that you agree to its terms on behalf of yourself and your student. Let’s get groovy with science! 🔬
